Teri Sprague
LICENSED PARELLI PROFESSIONAL
Teri grew up in northern Colorado and began riding and playing with horses at the age of 6. She spent the first 5 years of horsemanship bareback (since her family didn't own a saddle) and her horses were her teachers. Throughout her childhood she participated in 4-H and Little Britches Rodeo.
In 1987 Teri finished a B.S. degree in education. The next year she began working summers at a camp in Colorado where she facilitated the riding program for 3 years. Teri taught at private schools for seven years and on the side worked at a boarding stable in order to "save up" board fees so she could afford to keep a horse.
In 1991 she was able to purchase her first horse as an adult. Shortly thereafter she became interested in dressage. In 1995 with encouragement from her dressage instructor, she began working full time training horses and teaching riding. In this same year she met Pat and Linda Parelli and enrolled in the Parelli Natural Horse-Man-Ship program.
Teri achieved Level 1 (Partnership) in the fall of 1995, Level 2 (Harmony) in the Spring of 1997 (and was invited into the Instructor program) and Level 3 (Refinement) in the fall of 1998. Her thirst for Parelli Natural Horsemanship knowledge became unquenchable. In 1999, 2000, and 2001 she attended Colt Starting courses with Pat. These also gave her an opportunity to meet and learn from Pat's mentor, Ronnie Willis. She has been attending the Parelli Study Centers once and often times twice a year since her first certification. When Pat upgraded his program through the introduction of the star ratings, Teri was awarded 3-Star status as both an Instructor and Young Horse Professional. In February 2010 she was awarded 4-Star Senior Instructor status.
Now with over 30 years of horse experience she teaches clinics, workshops, and other events around the United States using a creative, informative, and fun approach to Parelli Natural Horse-Man-Ship that emphasizes imagination, affirmation, and progress. Contact Teri.
